Red Dot Book Awards - One Week to Vote!

Once a year for one week we vote for the best book in four categories:  Early Years, Younger Readers, Older Readers, and Mature Readers.  Any student is welcome to vote in any category - as long as they have read at least two of the books in that category (voting, after all, is about choosing).

In the Secondary School we mainly promote the Older Readers and Mature Readers books.  I'm sure you've noticed the big bookshelf devoted to them on the upper level.

Watch these 1-minute videos to remind yourself of the titles on offer this year.

Older Readers (aimed at grades 4 through 8):

Mature Readers (aimed at grades 8 through 12):

Ready to vote?

You can do it through a web browser - go to this webpage:  reddotawards.com/voting2013

Or use this QR code to go to a mobile website:  bit.ly/reddotvote

NB:  Our school voting code is UWCEAST.  The form will ask you for it.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, March 16th.

Afterwards, a subset of the Red Dot books will be selected as the quiz books for the Readers Cup, to be held in May.  Watch for details of how you can enter and compete.

Holiday Reading

The holiday break is a perfect time to do some reading.  Come into the library and browse our collection or search the catalog (http://catalog.uwcsea.edu.sg) for your favorite author.

Also note we have started to create some library guides to help lead you to great reads.  See:
It's that time of year when "best books of 2012" lists are published.  Below are a few links you might find interesting.
Posted from Diigo. The rest of my favorite links are here.

The outside "Read & Recycle" shelves are another option - perfect for people planning to travel who don't want to be concerned about bringing a book back.  "Read & Recycle" books are meant to be passed on.  We have a wide selection of titles, from board books for babies to adult non-fiction.
